Check out the results from Texas Roller Derby’s End-of-Season Draft

By TXRD Newsroom September 30, 2016

To become a TXRD rollergirl, you have to do more than just strap on a pair of skates and pick a badass name. No one knows that better than our team of alternates, the Hired Gun$.

Before becoming a Hired Gun, each of these skaters passed several tests during what we call New Girl training. If they make it through the final round of cuts, they’ve earned their status as a Hired Gun and TXRD skater! But the fun’s not over yet.

Every new Hired Gun must serve as an alternate for six months, filling in on the banked track when other teams need them during bouts. And finally, at each mid-season and end-of-season draft, some Hired Gun$ might get picked to join a team as their forever home.

Last weekend was just such a day.

At the Barton Springs Saloon, ten Hired Guns and a returning skater all found their way home. Here are the Texas Roller Derby official results!

Las Putas del Fuego welcome Putahontas back from medical retirement and drafted Bidi Bidi Boom Boom, Buffy Basher, and EduSkater.
The Cherry Bombs are showing Lois Slayin’ how to spell DESTROY out of the shrapnel left from their last roller derby bout.
The Holy Rollers are teaching Mardi Brawl and Hunty Badger how to take ruler smacks to the knuckles like true rollergirls do.
The Rhinestone Cowgirls are getting Ablazing Grace and Bikini Killer fitted for their spurs and shiny saddles.
And finally, the Hellcats are sharpening Sasha Fears’ and Hannthrax’s claws for the coming season.

With all this draft business, comes open spots for New Girls and a strong line of Hired Gun$ left to pick up the slack. Keep your eyes peeled for these ladies to step up and bust it out when the teams need that extra body this coming Texas Roller Derby season!
