TXRD Wreck League

By TXRD Newsroom February 19, 2017

If you’re reading this, you’re probably familiar with the titans of Texas Roller Derby who clash on the banked track at the Palmer Events Center each month. But did you know there’s an entire world of hard-hitting, underground roller derby happening right under your nose?

If you weren’t at the Thunderdome for Saturday’s glorious coed mashup of newbies, retired TXRD vets, Austin Anarchy superstars, and more, you missed out!

TXRD’s Wreck League has been tearing it up on Thunderdome banked track all season long under the leadership of Las Putas del Fuego’s Bidi Bidi Boom Boom and a rotating roster of brilliant guest trainers from all of TXRD’s home teams. All of their training paid off during last Saturday’s explosive bout!

Divided into two teams, Hit Vipers in blue and TeKilla Sunrise in red/orange, the Wreckers duked it out in a close-fought match full of strong walls, big hits and clever strategy, and it was anyone’s game right to the fourth quarter! In the end, the sneaky serpents took home the win over the boozed-up brawlers. But with a final score of 60-47, both teams had a lot to be proud of.
Whether you missed the excitement, watched the action and want to catch more of it, or are interested in lacing up your skates and getting into the game yourself, stay tuned to the blog and the Wreck League page of txrd.com for information on the next Badass Wreck League session!
